Our Team
Jim Rotherham is the CEO and Managing Partner of McLean, Rotherham & Co. Jim started his
career in San Diego at Arthur Young & Co. and spent an additional 10 years at Ernst & Young
servicing clients in a wide range of industries. After Ernst & Young Jim co-founded and served as
Chief Financial Officer of several privately owned and venture backed companies, two of which he
took public through the IPO process. Jim returned to public accounting in 2007, taking over the
leadership of the accounting firm his father established in 1968.
Jim has an Accounting and Finance degree from the Wharton School of the University of
Pennsylvania. Jim is Director of Business Consulting Services at McLean, Rotherham & Co. and
specializes in providing part-time CFO and Controller services to small and emerging businesses in
both private and public companies. Jim holds a CPA license in California.

Don McLean is Chairman and Senior Partner of McLean, Rotherham & Co. After starting his career at Deloitte-Touché in Chicago, Don established his own multi-office practice in the Chicago area. In 1981, he opened offices in San Diego.
With a degree in Accounting from Loyola of Chicago and a Masters in Taxation from DePaul University, he specializes in tax planning and strategies for businesses and individuals, as well as tax preparation. He has been retained as an expert witness in the area of business valuations and domestic relations settlements and conducts seminars on taxation. Don also has attained his Certified Financial Planner designation. He is a registered investment advisor in California. He also holds a CPA license in the states of Illinois, Wisconsin and California.
His comments on finance can be seen in his bi-weekly column "Gimme A Tax Break " in the RB News Journal. As a board member of the Rancho Bernardo Senior Services and RB Community Foundation, Don is able to lend his expertise in financial areas. Additionally, he has been a long-time member of the North County Estate Planning Group.
His spare time is centered around golf, travel and spending time with his grandchildren.

David Frank is the Director of Audit Services at McLean, Rotherham & Co. Upon his graduation from USC where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business, he spent time at Cantor Fitzgerald and Deloitte & Touché before joining the firm in 1989. Under his direction, the firm successfully completed independent peer reviews conducted by a team appointed by the California Society of CPAs in 1996, 1999, 2002 and 2005. He currently is a member of American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
Dave is past president of the San Diego Breakfast Rotary and Rotary Club of Temecula of which he is a current member. He likes to spend his free time with his son Conor enjoying various outdoor activities.

Jennifer is the Senior Manager of the Rancho Bernardo office of the firm. Jennifer began her career in public accounting with the firm of Ronald J. Rotherham, CPA in 1986, and completed her accounting and auditing internship to become a Certified Public Accountant in 1992. Jennifer spent eight years at the California State Board of Equalization as a Senior Sales and Use Tax Auditor where she was awarded the Sustained Superior Achievement award. Jennifer returned to the firm in 2000.
Jennifer specializes in small business accounting, including payroll taxes and sales and use tax. She is a Certified QuickBooks Pro-Advisor. She also specializes in the preparation of multi-state sales and use tax returns, sales tax audit representation, and sales tax Nexus issues.

Edward has been working with clients in the area of tax, real estate and small business consulting for over 20 years. After serving in the United States Army, Edward graduated from San Diego State University and started his own tax practice. In 2008, after 15 years on his own, Edward merged his practice with McLean, Rotherham & Co. As an associate of the firm Edward specializes in all areas of taxation including personal, corporate and non-profit taxation.
With a straightforward, honest and hands-on approach, Edward brings his experience in accounting, tax and real estate to help clients make sound and informed decisions. He takes pride in ensuring that all his clients get the personal attention they deserve while making sure their tax needs are met in professional manner.

Lorelei is a Tax Manager in the Rancho Bernardo office of the firm. Lorelei began her career in public accounting with Sanderfer & Smith. Lorelei joined the firm in 1992.
Lorelei specializes in corporate, individual taxation and accounting and earned her accounting degree from San Diego State University and is an Enrolled Agent through the IRS and a CPA licensed in the State of California. Lorelei is currently a member of the American Institute of CPAs.

A native Californian, Jim began his accounting career upon graduation from Cornell University with the army during the Korean War implementing a new accounting system for Ordnance supplies. He served as a Senior Consultant with a Fortune 500 company before opening an accounting office in Temecula in 1981, and is currently the manager of the Temecula/Murrieta office of McLean, Rotherham & Co. In 1986, he was designated as a Master Business Counselor. As an associate of the firm, he specializes in estates, in addition to trust and individual tax preparation.
Jim resides in Temecula and has served as a board member and officer of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce and currently is a Commissioner and past Chairman of the Temecula Community Services Commission. He has twice served as president of the Arts Council of Temecula Valley and presently is an advisor for the group, as well as, the Assistance League of Temecula Valley. As one of nine members of the Temecula Citizen's Advisory Council, he helped with the creation and update of a new General Plan for the city.
In the last fiscal year, Jim served as treasurer of Rotary District 5330, comprising 58 Rotary chapters in Southern California.

Bette has been practicing public accounting for over 30 years, including 27 years in the Temecula Valley. She specializes in tax planning; real estate transactions; small business accounting; non-profits, including churches and ministers; and income tax preparation.
Bette earned a Bachelor’s degree from CSU, Fullerton in 1976 and became certified in 1978. She worked with Grant Thorton and was tax manager with Arthur Anderson when she left to start her own practice. She merged her practice with McLean, Rotherham & Co. on January 1, 2007.
She has been a member of the Temecula Rotary, she later served as treasurer of the Murrieta Rotary. She has helped with the Temecula Theater, the Balloon and Wine Festival and many other community activities.
